Take a journey with the students of Aliamanu Middle School on the Island of Oʻahu as they learn the moʻolelo (stories) of the nearby valley, Kamananui, and translate it into a visual mural on their campus. Through a process of grounding and meditation, the students connect to the land and its ancestors to receive the images and stories for this mural.

Mele Murals promotes youth development, arts education, cultural preservation, and community-building through the creation of large-scale outdoor murals. Every ahupua’a has mo’olelo. Mele Mural’s visual storytelling program pulls together visual storytelling teams from keiki through kūpuna from each respective community. We reach into the heart of the community to collectively create the mo’olelo, imagery, and theme depicted on each project wall. We are here to help you tell your story.
